In the dating world, the saying “nice guys always finish last” is a prevalent motto amongst single men. This saying might be true on a micro level as the “nice guy” strikes out date after date but in the end, if a truly nice guy puts himself out there, he will never finish last. It might seem to him at the time he is consistently finishing last; however, on a macro level these “nice guys” are truly the winners. They are the ones who don’t have to be jerks in order to attract their mates. This in the end outlasts the couple who married for money or looks.
Nice guys need to have confidence
The part that is never told to these “nice guys” is that along with being nice they need to have a spine, self-respect and gumption. For a man to even make the comment “nice guys finish last” is to say that he has analyzed his dating patterns only to find that he is still alone and probably always will be. No woman wants to date someone without some sort of self-esteem. Women don’t want to catch these guys feeling sorry for themselves. After all, there are so many women out there; it is inevitable some sweet girl will appreciate their fresh approach to dating.
Look at it from her perspective
This statement also assumes they are truly nice guys. Often these “nice guys” aren’t actually so nice. Perhaps he is the blunt guy who says things that are construed as rude. While he might have meant well by saying he likes a woman with a little meat on her bones, the female might draw a different conclusion regarding the statement.
Maybe he is a clueless guy. This would include doing no research in the ways of women. It is almost pointless to expound on this because regardless if he is experienced or not, he can never go wrong if he truly likes the girl. She will see it and appreciate it. If he is lukewarm, he can be assured she will catch on very quickly and want out. If he puts himself out there and she doesn’t like it, it is her loss.
Be assured, women who only like “bad guys” are not desirable women. By the “nice guy” being a good guy, he is weeding out a future divorce. Regardless of his looks or financial situation, it can be guaranteed the combination of having a clue and self-esteem will do wonders for his “nice guy” persona.
